Sweet Serendipity

Freedom of speech? Freedom of sexuality? Freedom of living?

In today's society being gay is frowned upon . This makes me sick to my stomach.  It angers me to think that people are criticized and bullied for who they love and who they want to marry. Currently there is only a smidgen of countries that 'accept' gay marriage and have legalized it,before this a 'civil partnership' was only allowed.
ONLY ALLOWED!?

What's the difference between a normal heterosexual couple to same sex couples: nobody goes around slating opposite sex couples for being together so what harm is this doing to the world? Marriage is about love not what is acceptable in the public eye, gender identity and sexual orientation are aspects of lives and this shouldn't ever lead to us being discriminated because of it.

Gay rights and the right to be married when you're the same sex brings around lot of chaos and opinions. All around the world this is happening. Not everyone is in the know with what's happening. I am in no way an expert but i for one know the way some countries around the world are 'dealing' with LGBT is not right.

LGBT is all around the world and its not accepted everywhere. Countries go to extreme extents to stop this 'behavior' from taking place on their home turf, the extents can be from torture, killing and executions, arrests under unjust laws, censorship, medical abuses, domestic violence, unequal treatment, discrimination in health, jobs and housing, denial of family rights and recognition and abuse against children due to how citizens have decided to live their lives, how they look and who they love which means they've most probably dismayed laws and religious views alongside being who they are.

Although all of this is happening progress in being made in some areas of the world from allowing civil partnerships to leagalising same sex marriage, the dates below show when same sex marriage was legalised in which countries.

2014-Scotland
2013-England,Wales,France,New Zealand,Uruguay,Brazil,Israel
2012-Denmark
2010-Argentina,Iceland,Portugal,Mexico
2009- Sweden,Norway
2006-South Africa
2005-Spain,Canada
2003-Belgium
2000-The Netherlands

There is a big difference between marriage and civil partnerships if you weren't aware..

Financial rights-

  • 'pension rights are not the same,if one civil partner dies the pension share that the other receives if often lower and lasts for less time than for those who're married, reason being for this is because it depends on whether they were married or in a civil partnership, but married couples are entitled to the pension based on the number of years their spouse payed in to the pension fund...' ridiculousness
Separate is not equal-
'Not all straight people are married but that option is legally there for them .' it should be there for EVERYONE
  • Its a way of belonging to a cultural group, being seen as acceptable 'Belonging?!'
  • Marriage carries a social weight that civil partnerships do not, those who back equal marriage say 'using a different word indicated that society attaches less importance to civil partnerships'  nobody is of less importance,we're all human
Living abroad-
  • Travel restrictions apply to civil partnerships but not married couples
  • countries like Sweden,Argentina and Portugal where same-sex marriage is legal do not see civil partnerships as marriage, this means UK civil partners living abroad do not enjoy the same rights as same-sex married couples in the countries where gay marriage is legal. Whatever happened to Human rights,we're all equal
  • In addition the marriages of foreign gay couples who travel to the UK are not legally viewed as marriages.
  • Gender  -
  • if a married trans person would like to get a gender recognition certificate to live as their preferred gender then they must get a divorce and reapply for a civil partnership. so you're telling me that to be seen as whatever gender you'd like whilst you are married that you have to get a DIVORCE to then get a civil partnership because its not seen as right? whaaaaaat!
  • Separate marriage and civil partnership regulations mean gender and orientation are the deciding factors as to what relationships are legally recognized
  • A spokes person has said 'We have to end our existing relationships if we want official recognition of our gender and anyone who doesn't identify as either male or female has to lie when getting married

However, some corners of the world refuse to move on from their prejudice. For example in the work place,15 percent of Americans said it should be legal to refuse to hire someone because he/she is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender. Also in 34 states of the US it is still legal for people to be fired due to their sexual orientation, fortunately we don't have this in England.
There is a lot of controversy in Uganda and Russia at the moment, gay members of the public are being beaten to death practically and are being terrorised ,unfortunately there has been videos uploaded to YouTube of these degrading acts.
Below are examples of that.
UGANDA -LGBT - Uganda
RUSSIA - LGBT - Russia

Anyone can get hold of theses videos,YouTube is very accessible, especially to young children. We don't want the future generation growing up being told this is wrong and that this is the way you should be treated if you're gay/lesbian.
This leads me to my next point.
One YouTube there is a channel called 'The Fine Bro's' and on that channel they have a 'Kids react' which is young children reacting to different videos. Amongst these videos there is a 'kids react to gay marriage', if there's one thing you should watch today i suggest it is this, children can be very honest because they are very clean minded and haven't yet been corrupted by society.

Celebrity's have just as much as an input in this matter along side the general public and children. Being gay in the fame world has its downfalls. Celebs are normal people with abnormal lives, they still have feelings and celebrity's can be gay as well but because they're in the public eye they get slated a lot more for it,their private life is slashed all across the media and people can easily pick at that because of all the social media sites that are around in our day and age. Celebrity's who have a high status can have 'Beards' hired for them by their management as a cover up to there true sexuality, which is ludicrous, its technically lying to anyone who looks up to them.

There is a range of celebrity's that are gay,for example 'Matt Bomer,Neil Patrick Harris ,Lance Bass , Ellen DeGeneres,Ellen Page, the list is endless..

Marie Claire magazine has a special 'I DO' issue to support gay marriage, all with celebrity's saying that its right.

Are we finally starting to realise that being gay is not a crime and everyone deserves the honor of marriage? yes,i do hope so!
We as a country and a world as a whole are getting of our high horses and finally accepting the reality of today's society and that more and more people are gay and there's nothing they can do about it apart from stop being a moaning marge and let it happen.
Finito.
